Santos hold first talks over Miguelito renewal

Santos held initial talks on Thursday with Miguelito’s representative over a new deal, expressing interest in keeping the Bolivian and outlining their intentions for the player. With expectations around the sporting project aligned, the football department is expected to present the proposed extension length and revised terms in the coming weeks.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Miguelito is under contract until 24 April 2027, meaning he could sign a pre-contract in October.
Of last season’s loanees, he was the only player asked to report back to CT Rei Pelé. He has been given opportunities by coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, featuring in eight of nine Paulistão matches and providing an assist against Velo Clube.
In the Brasileirão he has appeared in four matches so far. He is a regular starter for Bolivia and among the top scorers in qualifying, and he is eyeing World Cup involvement as his country continue to chase a place. He also drew enquiries from overseas clubs during the mid-year window.
Last year he was on loan at América-MG, scoring 7 goals and supplying 5 assists in 25 Série B games. A proposed move to Dynamo Kyiv fell through due to visa issues amid the war and airport closure.
At Santos since 2018 after impressing in an Under-15 friendly, he could not move internationally until he came of age under FIFA rules, debuted under interim Orlando Ribeiro in a 4-1 win over Juventude on 10 October 2022 and has since made 30 first-team appearances.
