Santos hold recovery session after draw, Neymar Jr scheduling dilemma and fitness doubts for Remo return | OneFootball

Santos ran a recovery session at CT Rei Pelé on Sunday morning after the goalless first leg with Remo, and will travel to Belém with fitness doubts and a Neymar Jr scheduling question.

According to Diario Do Peixe, players who logged more than 45 minutes in Saturday’s draw worked in the gym, while the others did light drills on the pitch. The squad are due back at the training ground on Monday morning.

The coaching staff are expected to hold a tactical session before flying in the afternoon. Santos face Remo at the Mangueirão on Tuesday at 21:30 in the Copa do Brasil last 16 second leg.

Centre-back Lucas Veríssimo is a doubt after feeling his calf, and right-back Igor Vinicius reported fatigue. Both started the first game, Veríssimo went off late and Vinicius at half-time.

The main uncertainty is Neymar Jr. The sixth Instituto Neymar Jr auction is scheduled on Monday night, from 19:30 to 21:30, at Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo. He must either travel with the squad and skip the event, or attend then fly alone to Pará later. He has already faced criticism this year for being rested and using days off to play poker.

After the cup tie, Santos host Athletico-PR on Sunday at 18:30 at Vila Belmiro in the Brasileirão. Having collected his third yellow card against Chapecoense, Neymar will be suspended for that match.
