Santos president Marcelo Teixeira says the club are in advanced talks over a new academy training centre in São Vicente.

"We have a preliminary agreement with a Santos partner that owns an area in São Vicente, and we have already reached an agreement with the São Vicente city council. We already have investors ready," he said. He told CNN Esportes in an interview due to air on Sunday 7.

The project targets an area of approximately 700,000 square metres in the continental region of São Vicente. The land belongs to French company Saint-Gobain, and the club see it as a way to centralise and expand their academy set-up.

The plan under discussion would avoid a direct cash purchase. Instead, the operation would be structured through commercial considerations and sponsorship agreements with investors willing to join the project.

Behind the scenes, Santos are working to turn the talks into an official agreement in the coming weeks. The board view expanding youth infrastructure as a priority for the next years.

Announcing new training centres has been a theme of Teixeira’s current administration. Since returning to the presidency in January 2024, he has floated other infrastructure proposals.

In October 2024, during Torcida Jovem’s anniversary celebrations, he told supporters he intended to build a training centre in São Paulo for the men’s and women’s first teams, citing alignment with mayor Ricardo Nunes during the municipal elections.

Months later, in May 2025, the club unveiled a Praia Grande CT project with NR Sports, a company linked to Neymar’s family, and Grupo Peralta. It was presented at an event marking the reopening of academy and women’s areas at CT Rei Pelé, but work has not begun.

The latest option focuses on São Vicente. If concluded, it could become the future home of the Meninos da Vila and extend Santos’ formation work beyond CT Rei Pelé.
