FútbolUy reports that Santos are negotiating the signing of midfielder Christian Oliva from Nacional, with a proposal of about 1.5 million dollars for 25 percent of his economic rights.
That stake is held by the Uruguayan club, with the remainder belonging to the player. His contract runs until the end of this year.
Agreement with the player is well advanced, although Nacional could yet complicate the deal. Oliva is expected to face Racing de Montevideo on Saturday 14 at 20:30 Brasília time in the Uruguayan league.
Born in Cidade da Prata, he turns 30 in June. He came through Bella Vista, then broke through at Nacional. He later joined Cagliari, moving there permanently and spending a loan spell at Valencia.
He subsequently signed for Talleres in Argentina and later went on loan to Juárez in Mexico, before returning to Nacional on a permanent deal in 2024.
Santos are targeting a midfielder after ending talks for José Aldo of Mirassol. They also want a centre-back and are in negotiations for Marco Di Cesare. This year the club have added Gabriel Menino, Rony and Moisés.
