Santos are interested in signing Atlético-MG midfielder Alexsander. According to Diario Do Peixe, the board are working to pay Monaco and lift a FIFA transfer ban in order to sign right-back Gastón Martinera.
Alexsander was not included for Atlético-MG’s 3-0 win over Grêmio at Arena MRV in the 23rd round of the Brasileirão on Sunday.
Before kick-off, Atlético-MG CEO Pedro Daniel said there had been enquiries and conversations, noted that nothing was agreed or formalised, and added that no €5 million, R$ 30 million, bid had arrived.
Cuca has requested reinforcements and the club previously tried to land midfielder Newton, but that move collapsed before the transfer ban.
Alexsander is under contract until the end of 2029 and has lost his place under Eduardo Domínguez. The Rio de Janeiro-born 22-year-old came through Madureira and Fluminense, debuted for Fluminense in 2022, joined Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, then signed for Atlético-MG in July last year.
