Santos' Deliberative Council will meet on Monday to begin work on a new club statute, with some rules retained and others, including SAF, potentially up for revision.
According to Globo.com, SAF might not feature in the opening session. A vote on 18 May will start proceedings, with deliberations set to run through the week.
A five-year membership requirement to stand for the council remains after debate over extending it to 10 years. The three-year minimum to vote is also kept. Proposals were sent to councillors, signed by statute chief Celso Pires.
Proposals include scrapping the need for three completed council terms before a presidential bid. The new minimum could be none, one or at most two, still to be decided in a vote. The plan also ends the Management Council and cuts elected councillors from 150 to 100.
Opponents of president Marcelo Teixeira, in his final year, have criticised the process and the scheduling, which they say could dilute debate. It coincides with Carlo Ancelotti naming Brazil's World Cup squad at 17:00 Brasília time, a moment that could dominate attention, including focus on Neymar. The council is set to meet at Vila Belmiro in the early evening.
Invitations went by email to councillors, with formal publication on the club website still pending. The statute requires notice on the official site at least three working days in advance, and confirmation of date and time is due this week.
