Santos have rejected Genoa’s loan offer with an option to buy for forward Robinho Jr.
According to Globo.com, the club are unwilling to split the player’s wages with the Italian club and are waiting for a counter-proposal.
An option to make the move permanent for €eight million, roughly R$ 48 million, did not change their stance.
Robinho Jr. has attracted interest from European clubs and travelled to Italy early this week to deal with passport and residency formalities.
Santos’s number seven has 13 appearances this season and one goal, his first as a professional, scored in a friendly against União São João.
The 18-year-old has not played since 21 July, when he featured in the heavy win over UCV in Venezuela in the Copa Sudamericana.
