Santos have filed action with the STJD to annul the 3-0 defeat to Coritiba at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, alleging an error of law over a mistaken substitution involving Neymar, the club said in a statement.

The case is due to be heard on Friday at 10:00, Brasília time.

At 19 minutes of the second half, with Neymar being treated by the touchline, the fourth official signalled his number for Robinho Júnior to come on, while the staff had been preparing Escobar's withdrawal.

Neymar attempted to re-enter and received a yellow card.

Referee Paulo Cesar Zanovelli's match report recorded that assistant coach César Sampaio informed and confirmed verbally that Neymar should be replaced. It also noted he was filling out the slip with delegate Guilherme Zangari indicating Escobar as the player to leave.

Sampaio later accepted responsibility, describing a request for Juninho to replace Escobar, 7 for 31, asking fourth official Bruno to wait while Neymar tested his calf, and calling the decision to proceed premature and irreversible once processed.
