Santos to appoint Elano as football manager in charge of academy

Santos will add Elano to their hierarchy as football manager, giving him autonomy over the club’s youth department.

According to Globo.com, the former midfielder has reached agreement with president Marcelo Teixeira.

Elano has notified Guarani of his intention to take the role and is expected to formalise his departure from the Campinas side in the coming days.

A two-time Brazilian champion in 2002 and 2004, and a 2011 Libertadores winner with Santos, he later worked as both coach and executive.

Since May 2025 he has served as technical coordinator at Guarani, the club that launched his career.

Santos are expected to confirm the agreement soon, with Elano set to lead the academy structure.
