Santos are trying to lift a FIFA transfer ban and line up a swap that would send Adonis Frías to Racing and bring Gastón Martirena to Vila Belmiro.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Frías would move to Argentina on a one-year loan with an option to buy, while Racing have offered right-back Martirena, 26, who has fallen down their pecking order.
Right-back has been a problem area. Gabriel Menino, recently readapting from midfield, felt a knee issue. Igor Vinicius is not fully over a back problem but has made himself available, with under-20 player Davizinho covering.
Club chiefs are pushing to settle about R$ 12 thousand owed to Monaco for Jean Lucas. President Marcelo Teixeira said recently he was awaiting Globo television income and a Libra payment this month. The transfer window closes on 20 September.
While Santos pursue a solution, Martirena is expected to train at CT Rei Pelé and the clubs would exchange paperwork, so he could be registered immediately once the punishment ends.
Former coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda worked with Frías at Santos between August last year and March, and has already signed Lautaro Díaz. Frías apologised after an early error in the 4-2 win over UCV on 28 July, and has 2 goals in 24 games this year. He is contracted until December 2028.
