Santos to lodge CBF complaint over Barreal goal ruled offside by VAR in stoppage-time 0-0 at Mineirão against Cruzeiro

Santos will lodge a formal complaint with the CBF over a VAR offside that cancelled Álvaro Barreal’s stoppage-time strike in Sunday’s 0-0 at Cruzeiro in the Mineirão, in the eighth round of the Brasileirão.

The club said in a statement that it will seek an explanation for the offside call. In its post, Santos highlighted a frozen frame without calibration lines to support its view.

The VAR was led by Diego Pombo Lopez, and head coach Cuca later questioned the intervention during his press conference.

Neymar, who missed the game, later complained on social media.

The draw left Santos on seven points, outside the relegation zone. Cruzeiro, the only club yet to win in Série A this year, sit bottom with four points.
