Santos to receive R$ one million for Caballero loan, R$ 30 million clause set | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Santos will receive R$ one million from Portsmouth for the loan of Gustavo Caballero. The deal runs to the end of June and includes a R$ 30 million purchase figure if the English club opt to make it permanent.

The Paraguayan forward has travelled and signed to play in England's second tier.

Santos believe a second-tier European environment will suit Caballero better than leaving him on the fringes in Brazil.

The 24-year-old featured in only two matches this season, drew criticism from many supporters and failed to convince the coaching staff, so he was moved out of the club's plans.

He is part of an early 2026 clear-out. Algerian winger Bilal Brahimi has also been moved on, to Portuguese football. Santos want Alexis Duarte to leave as well, though talks are not yet concluded.

Caballero joined Santos in July last year from Nacional of Paraguay, with the club buying 50% of his rights for one point six million dollars, about R$ nine million at the time. He made 12 appearances in last year's Brasileirão and scored one goal. The board hope to recover the outlay with a sale in July.
