Santos v Corinthians: where to watch, team news, line-ups, refereeing

On the night of Wednesday, October 15, Corinthians will travel to Vila Belmiro, in Baixada Santista, to face Santos at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), in a match valid for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. The club from Parque São Jorge is seeking a win to move up the table and currently sits in 12th place with 33 points (eight wins, nine draws, and 10 losses – 29 goals scored and 32 conceded).

In the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians is coming off a 3-0 victory over Mirassol at Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 27th round of the national competition. The match took place on October 4, Saturday. This will be the first match for the Alvinegro since then, as Brazilian football was on pause for the FIFA international break.

Probable Lineup and Absences for Corinthians

In addition to coach Dorival Júnior, who is serving the second match of his suspension after receiving a third yellow card followed by a red in the 1-1 draw against Internacional away from home in the 26th round of the Brasileirão, Corinthians will be without seven players for the derby against the Baixada Santista team.

They are: goalkeeper Hugo Souza (serving a suspension and returning from the FIFA break with the Brazilian National Team), defenders André Ramalho (in the final phase of recovery after a muscle injury) and Félix Torres (on FIFA duty with Ecuador), left-back Matheus Bidu (serving a suspension), midfielder José Martínez (did not return after three days off due to personal issues), midfielder André Carrillo (final phase of physical recovery), and forward Ángel Romero (returning from the FIFA break with Paraguay).

On the other hand, goalkeeper Matheus Donelli (with Hugo Souza suspended), midfielder Charles (fully recovered from pain in his right knee), and midfielder Rodrigo Garro (already recovered from a grade 2 calf edema) have completed their recovery period and return to Corinthians’ squad list.

Given this, assistant coach Lucas Silvestre is expected to start the match with: Felipe Longo; João Pedro Tchoca, Gustavo Henrique, and Fabrizio Angileri; Hugo Farias (Cacá), Raniele, Maycon, and Matheuzinho and Breno Bidon; Gui Negão (Memphis Depay) and Yuri Alberto.

Probable Lineup and Absences for Santos

Sitting in 16th place with 28 points from 26 games, the Baixada Santista team will have three absences for the match: midfielder Tomás Rincón (muscle edema in the left calf), midfielder Neymar (grade 2 injury to the right thigh rectus femoris muscle, in the quadriceps region), and forward Tiquinho Soares (suspended).

Thus, coach Vojvoda intends, according to ge.globo, to start the derby with: Gabriel Brazão; Igor Vinícius, Adonis Frías, Luan Peres, and Escobar (Souza); João Schmidt, Zé Rafael, Gabriel Bontempo (Barreal), and Rollheiser; Guilherme and Lautaro Díaz.

Refereeing

The referee will be Flávio Rodrigues de Souza (SP), assisted by Danilo Ricardo Simon Manis (SP) and Leila Naiara Moreira da Cruz (DF). The fourth official and VAR will be João Vitor Gobi (SP) and Wagner Reway (SC), respectively.

Broadcast

Corinthians fans who want to follow the match will have the following options: Rede Globo (free-to-air TV), Premiere (Grupo Globo’s pay-per-view), and GE TV (free and with images). After facing Santos FC away in the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians will keep its focus on the national competition. On the next October 18, Saturday, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will host Atlético-MG at Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 29th round.
