According to Coluna Do Fla, São Paulo have moved quickly to agree a deal to appoint Dorival Júnior as their new coach after dismissing Roger Machado.

Dorival accepted a reduced salary to sign. He and his staff are to receive around R$ 2 million per month, compared with the R$ 3 million Corinthians were paying.

He was Flamengo coach for the 2022 Libertadores triumph against Athletico-PR, a 1-0 win in Guayaquil, Ecuador, settled by Gabigol.

He also won the 2022 Copa do Brasil, as Flamengo beat Corinthians on penalties at the Maracanã to lift the national cup.

Flamengo, now led by Leonardo Jardim, focus on Athletico-PR on Sunday (17) in the 16th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Kick-off is 19:30 in Brasília, with coverage on Premiere pay-per-view and SporTV.
