Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has moved to clarify the future of rising star Tarik Muharemovic amidst intense speculation linking the defender with a move away from the Mapei Stadium.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Carnevali spoke to DAZN ahead of the Neroverdi’s clash with Juventus, confirming that while the 22-year-old has no shortage of suitors, the club has no intention of sanctioning a January exit.

Notably, the Bosnian international has attracted significant interest from across Europe, with various reports linking him to Premier League clubs as well as Italian giants Inter and Juventus. However, despite the mounting pressure, Carnevali was firm in his stance that the former Juve Next Gen product will remain in Emilia-Romagna for the foreseeable future.

Indeed, Carnevali used his pre-match interview to shut down talk of an imminent transfer, stating:

“We have had requests, but in January we are not going to sell, only to reinforce, which is not easy. We have had contacts with more clubs. He has a high value, he has proven it himself. The bar is high.”

Furthermore, when specifically addressing the prospect of a return to the Bianconeri—given that Juventus reportedly retain a 50% sell-on clause—Carnevali remained focused on Sassuolo’s own objectives. He reiterated:

“The policy of the club is to go for young players. The January market is only for repairs, but I repeat, we are not going to sell.”

Consequently, while the likes of Inter and Bologna have reportedly “knocked at the door,” and the Premier League remains a potential future destination, Muharemovic is set to continue his development under Fabio Grosso. For now, Sassuolo appear determined to keep their defensive jewel as they look to secure their top-flight status and improve their position in the Serie A table.
