Ryunosuke Sato, 19, is closing on a move to Valencia after FC Tokyo said his departure is imminent and that, due to transfer formalities, he will be with their squad from 5 July. The club will only name his destination once a formal decision is taken.

Negotiations with Valencia have advanced, with visa matters among the final details, ahead of a proposed deal running to 2028.

Sato would become the first Japanese player in the club’s history, with a fee of around four million euros. The under-23 winger is slated for a first-team spot and will join Carlos Corberán once paperwork is complete, which could push his arrival into next week.

Players are due from 2 July for medicals, with the first training session scheduled for Monday 6 July in Paterna.

The Guido Rodríguez deal is also close, with Valencia confident of making it official in the coming days. Ron Gourlay has the midfielder’s approval to the latest terms and the club expects a two-year contract with an optional extra year.

Pending final sign-offs on Sato and Guido, Valencia plan to start work with four additions, the Japanese, the Argentine, De Haas and Dieng, who are due in the coming days. The club have also finalised Stole Dimitrievski’s renewal this summer.
