Saudi offensive on Real and Barça

Saudi Arabia targets Real and Barça
As a summer that could shake up the European football landscape approaches, several key players from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid appear to be heading for the exit door. Robert Lewandowski is nearing the end of his contract at Barça, while Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba could be playing their final weeks in the Madrid shirt. These three major figures are now firmly in the sights of Saudi powerhouses, who are ready to make a major splash in the transfer market.
According to reports from a Saudi Public Investment Fund official, clubs such as Al Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad are preparing to offer blockbuster contracts to Lewandowski, Rüdiger, and Alaba as early as this summer. This financial offensive could tempt the trio, though their future will still depend on sporting and regulatory factors. On Barça’s side, the possible return of the 1-1 rule could determine the Polish striker’s departure, with his salary potentially freeing up funds for a replacement of the caliber of Julián Álvarez or Harry Kane.
As for Real Madrid, no decisions will be made until the end of the season, although Alaba’s departure looks likely given his reduced role under Xabi Alonso. All three players—who are candidates to feature at the 2026 World Cup—might wait until after the tournament to make their choices. Their situations are sure to add further intrigue to a transfer window already expected to be explosive.
