Coventry City are charging Birmingham City fans up to £45 for a match ticket for their fixture later this month.
Birmingham City fans are unhappy with the ticket prices set by Coventry City for their upcoming fixture at the CBS Arena later this month.
The two Midlands teams have enjoyed a positive start to the Championship season, and both will hope to be in the mix for promotion next May.
So, the fixture on September 27, which will be shown on Sky Sports, promises to be an important clash, and it will be a good marker for Frank Lampard and Chris Davies as they look to see how good their respective sides are.
Whilst this is by no means the main rivalry for Blues, with Aston Villa and Wolves in the Premier League, this is a fixture that will have added spice given the proximity of both clubs.
So, you would expect a big Blues following to make the short trip to Coventry, and ticket details for the match have been shared on the club’s website.
Birmingham have been given an allocation of 2,744 for the game, which is the maximum they will receive for the lunchtime kick-off.
The visitors may have liked a bigger allocation, but the big talking point from the update was the prices of the tickets.
Coventry have charged Blues supporters £45 for an adult ticket, with those over 65 paying £40, which is the same price for 18-21 year-olds. Meanwhile, kids under 18 will have to fork out £35 for the televised clash.
That makes these tickets among the most expensive in the country for away fans, with Premier League away tickets capped at £30 for adults.
Therefore, it unsurprisingly, didn’t go down well with the fans, although Blues were right to point out that it was entirely Coventry’s doing.
Another fan suggested Blues should reciprocate this 'embarrassing' pricing later in the campaign when the Sky Blues visit St. Andrew's.
To their credit, a Coventry fan acknowledged that the club were charging Birmingham fans too much for the game.
Another Blues fan was quick to note just how much the younger supporters were going to have to pay for this game, given the small difference in cost between the age categories.
Davies' side are back in action after the international break with a trip to Stoke City, before they host Swansea, and then they will face Coventry.
