History was made in Chisinau on Tuesday, as Moldova came from two goals behind to beat Poland in their latest Euro 2024 qualifying match.
The hosts (who rank 171st in FIFA’s rankings) found themselves two goals down against 23rd-ranked Poland after 34 minutes.
Yet despite the gulf in talent between the two sides, a heroic comeback capped off by a Vladyslav Babohlo winner in the 85th minuted snatched a famous victory.
It was the first time in five games that the Tricolours defeated a nation in the top 100 of FIFA’s rankings.
It was also the first time Moldova won a competitive match after being down by two goals this century.
With five points from their first four games in Group E, can they do the unthinkable and qualify for their first-ever major tournament as an independent nation?
