Sky Germany reports that Schalke 04 have submitted an official offer for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Junior Dina Ebimbe. The newly promoted Bundesliga club have intensified their pursuit of the 25-year-old following the collapse of the deal to acquire former Eintracht attacker Jesper Lindstrøm.

Schalke’s interest in Dina Ebimbe first emerged earlier this summer, but the transfer had recently receded into the background while die Königsblauen worked to acquire Lindstrøm from Napoli. The Gelsenkirchen club have now returned to the French-born Cameroon international and reportedly lodged a written offer with Frankfurt on Monday.

Schalke are seeking to sign Dina Ebimbe permanently. Sky reports that the versatile midfielder could receive a contract through 2028 with an option for an additional season. The player is generally open to moving to the Veltins Arena.

Absolut Fußball reports that a potential agreement could involve a €1.3m transfer fee plus bonuses. Dina Ebimbe has entered the final year of his Frankfurt contract, leaving the RheinMainAdler with limited leverage should they wish to collect a fee for a player who no longer features prominently in their plans.

Dina Ebimbe now represents a considerably less expensive alternative capable of filling several of the same squad needs. The former Paris Saint-Germain academy player can operate as an attacking midfielder, a box-to-box midfielder or on either flank. During his time in Frankfurt, he was also regularly deployed as a wing-back.

Dina Ebimbe returns after Brest loan

Dina Ebimbe joined Eintracht on loan from PSG in the summer of 2022 before completing a permanent €6.5m transfer one year later. He registered 15 goals and eight assists in 85 competitive appearances for the German club.

His strongest Frankfurt campaign came in 2023/24, when he scored ten goals across all competitions. Dina Ebimbe nevertheless gradually fell out of favor under Dino Toppmöller and was removed from the club’s Europa League squad following the collapse of a proposed January 2025 loan to Monaco.

The move to the principality failed after Monaco raised concerns during the player’s medical examination. Although Toppmöller initially insisted that all doors remained open, Dina Ebimbe did not make another competitive appearance for Frankfurt and was excluded from senior training the following summer.

Frankfurt eventually loaned the midfielder to Stade Brest for the 2025/26 campaign. Dina Ebimbe made 27 Ligue 1 appearances and scored five goals, but Brest did not exercise their reported €7m purchase option.

Schalke must now determine whether Frankfurt are prepared to sanction a substantially cheaper permanent departure. The player’s expiring contract and willingness to move to Gelsenkirchen should assist negotiations as the Royal Blues seek to rebound quickly from the failed Lindstrøm deal.
