Schjelderup completes awards hat-trick with April player prize for Benfica | OneFootball

Andreas Schjelderup has capped his fine spell for Benfica by completing a hat-trick of monthly awards. According to Glorioso 1904, the Norway international has been named Liga Portugal Betclic’s Player of the Month for April, adding to his young of the month and forward of the month honours.

The award, voted for by the league’s head coaches, saw Schjelderup collect 15.48% of the vote, ahead of Viktor Froholdt of Porto and Pedro Lima of AVS SAD. It crowns an emphatic individual month for Benfica’s number 21.

In April he featured in four league matches, producing two goals and one assist. He scored against Nacional and Sporting, and contributed to positive results against Moreirense and Casa Pia.

The sequence of accolades underlines Schjelderup’s progress through the season and his growing influence under José Mourinho. After a quieter start, he has hit the run-in as one of the standout figures at the Luz.

This season he has played 42 games for Benfica, 27 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 2,464 minutes he has recorded 10 goals and six assists, and is valued at 20 million euros.
