Andreas Schjelderup is resisting a new Benfica deal, with talks over an extension to his contract, which runs until June 2028, currently at a standstill. According to Glorioso 1904, discussions between the parties have brought no breakthrough.
The Rui Costa-led SAD views keeping the 22-year-old as a priority and is willing to improve the initial offer, yet progress remains limited. The situation drew added interest after he switched representation to Jorge Mendes.
During Norway’s recent camp, Portuguese reporters asked the winger about the negotiations, but he declined to share details and referred the matter to his representatives.
He said he is focused on playing and enjoying his football, appreciates having agents handle off-field issues, and is happy at Benfica and with the national team.
Despite the lack of agreement, Benfica have not dropped their push to secure a renewal and plan to enhance their proposal to move closer to the Norway international’s expectations. Even so, the hierarchy will not exceed internal financial parameters, and with the player holding his line, there is no resolution in sight for now.
