HLN are reporting that Club Brugge’s Scottish international Jack Hendry is set to join Saudi-Arabian side Al-Ettifaq. The middle-eastern side are currently managed by former Liverpool and England star Steven Gerrard. Jordan Henderson is reportedly close to joining the side and would be a teammate of Jack Hendry. He could form a central defensive partnership with former Bundesliga and Ligue 1 defender Marcel Tisserand. Club Brugge are, according to HLN, set to recoup most of the €6m they spent to sign Hendry from Oostende.
Hendry joined Oostende on loan from Celtic during the 2020/2021 season and became a key player for the side. Under Aleksander Blessin, the side played an aggressive pressing style that won many plaudits. Alongside Arthur Theate, Hendry was a standout in the three man defence that Blessin deployed. So impressive were Hendry’s performances that, once Oostende made the loan permanent, they were able to turn a profit by selling the defender to Club Brugge.
During his first season with the then Belgian champions, Hendry made 33 appearances and scored once. The 28-year-old’s contract expires in 2025.
