Denmark entertain Scotland this week in a clash that could have a huge bearing on both side’s chances of reaching next summer’s World Cup.
The two nations will be competing with Greece for qualification from Group C, with minnows Belarus expected to make up the numbers.
Steve Clarke has recalled Aaron Hickey after nearly two years out injured, though he cautioned that he may be managed carefully across both away fixtures. Clarke praised Hickey’s resilience, stating: “He’s ready, but we’ll protect him to ensure he’s at his best for the long haul.”
Hearts’ Zander Clark is favored to start in goal ahead of Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly. In defence, Kieran Tierney and Nathan Patterson are selected to provide balance and width. Midfield will likely feature John McGinn partnering Billy Gilmour, while Callum McGregor returns from injury to add experience. Lyndon Dykes is likely to lead the line for the Scots.
Scotland predicted XI: Clark; Tierney, McKenna, Porteous, Patterson; McGinn, Gilmour; Robertson, McGregor, Hickey; Dykes
The qualifier will take place at 7:45pm on Friday.
UK viewers can stream the match live on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app, with Kelly Cates hosting the build-up and analysis. Radio coverage is available on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Sounds.
