Scott Parker expects Zian Flemming and Joe Worrall to be in contention for Burnley’s visit to Sunderland on Monday. According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach delivered the update in his pre-match briefing.

Sunderland host at the Stadium of Light seeking to avenge a 2-0 defeat at Turf Moor earlier in the season and to respond to a 3-1 loss to West Ham last time out.

Burnley remain 10 points from safety but have battled to take points off Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in their last three matches.

Parker said the pair should be available after around 10 days of training and that they are in a good place. Josh Cullen remains out, and he reported no fresh injury concerns, adding the rest of the squad are fit to his knowledge.

James Ward-Prowse has joined on loan from West Ham this week. Parker believes the midfielder will bring quality and know-how, cover required with Cullen sidelined long term. He added they will build Ward-Prowse’s fitness and assess him over the coming days, and that they are pleased with the signing.
