38 of the 47 teams that will compete in the Copa Libertadores 2026 are already known.

Five of them will debut in the biggest South American tournament.

👀 Division of the 47 spots

Brazil was entitled to five spots in the group stage and two in the second preliminary phase.

But it now has six direct spots thanks to the Libertadores title.

Argentina would have five teams in the group stage and one in the second preliminary phase.

However, it also gained another direct spot after Lanús won the Sudamericana.

Chile and Colombia will have two teams in the group stage and two in the second preliminary phase.

Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela will secure two teams in the main phase, one in the second preliminary phase, and one in the first.

Much remains to be defined...

Nine spots still need to be filled.

Three are for Chilean football, two for Colombian, and one each for Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Ecuador.

The question mark in Brazilian football will be resolved with the Copa do Brasil.

Cruzeiro vs. Corinthians and Fluminense vs. Vasco are in the tournament's semifinals. Raposa and Tricolor are already guaranteed in the Libertadores via the Brasileirão.

If one of them wins the Copa do Brasil, the eighth-placed team in the Brasileirão will also compete in the South American tournament.

In Argentina, River Plate is rooting for its biggest rival to be the country's representative in the second preliminary phase.

Boca Juniors is the only Clausura semifinalist already certain in the Libertadores via overall campaign - the 2nd best.

They will face Racing in one of the semis. Estudiantes and Gimnasia L.P. will play the other. A trio fighting for the trophy to play the biggest South American competition in 2026.

The debutants 🤩

Mirassol secured its spot thanks to a historic campaign in the Brasileirão.

The first Argentine team to qualify was Platense after winning the Apertura.

The second was Independiente Rivadavia for winning the Copa Argentina.

Surprise in Uruguay, Juventud from Las Piedras secured its spot after having the second-best campaign of the year excluding the finalists.

Meanwhile, Paraguayan 2 de Mayo goes to the Libertadores after being the runner-up in the Copa Paraguay. General Caballero won the title but was relegated in the league, thus missing the tournament.
