Seko Fofana has rejoined FC Porto on loan from Rennes until the end of the season, the club said in a statement.

The deal mirrors his previous stay, with no loan fee, Porto covering the 31-year-old's wages, and no option to buy or intermediary costs.

After limited action at Rennes, he arrived late in the winter window and made 18 appearances across the Primeira Liga, Europa League and Taça de Portugal. He scored decisive goals against Sporting, Braga and Famalicão as Porto won the championship.

Fofana was part of Francesco Farioli's squad between February and May and convinced the coach, who wanted him back as an alternative to Victor Froholdt in the number eight role.

He has described the return as the fulfilment of a long-held wish, delighted to be with his team-mates again and hopeful of continuing their journey together.

Capped 35 times by Ivory Coast and a 2026 World Cup participant, Fofana came through Manchester City and has played for Fulham, Bastia, Lens, Rennes, Udinese, Al Nassr and Al Ettifaq. His standout spell came at Lens in 2022/23, finishing second in France, one point behind PSG.
