Shocking footage captures semi-pro footballer Connor Charlton driving a BMW at up to 191mph on roads around Leeds.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, police were alerted in 2023 to social media clips of a BMW X3M Competition. After a September 2023 crash on South Accommodation Road, data from the car logged extreme speeds on the M1, M62 and A1(M).
He was arrested in November 2023. Investigators found messages showing he arranged for others to take speeding penalty points for £250, and a phone note setting out a false account that blamed another driver.
The 32-year-old later admitted 10 counts of dangerous driving and four of perverting the course of justice between 2022 and 2023 at Leeds Crown Court.
Charlton, of Northcote Green, Hunslet, has two previous convictions, including ABH in 2019 after punching a man during a five-a-side in Wakefield.
His barrister called the offending 24 months of madness, citing his community work and his son’s autism. Judge Kate Rayfield imposed four years in jail and a driving ban of four years and seven months, saying even one such count would warrant prison.
