Match preview

Senegal dug deep to beat record champions Egypt 1-0 in the semi-final. Sadio Mane’s 78th-minute strike proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Senegal dominated the fixture, with Egypt playing in a low block. The Pharaohs’ only shot on target came in the 95th minute, underscoring their approach.

The Teranga Lions boast the second best attack in the tournament, scoring 12 goals and creating 20 big chances — second only to Nigeria in both metrics.

Morocco, meanwhile, beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties, qualifying for the competition’s final for only the third time.

Walid Regragui’s side stifled the Super Eagles’ side’s free-scoring attack, limiting them to just one shot on target. Their attack also looked more threatening.

The Atlas Lions’ campaign has been built on control and defensive resilience. They now have to show it once more to be crowned champions.

Head-to-head

This is the first meeting between the two sides in the competition. Overall, they have met 31 times: Morocco have won 18, Senegal six, while seven matches ended in draws.

Team news

Senegal will be without influential captain Kalidou Koulibaly and midfielder Habib Diarra due to suspension.

Azzedine Ounahi and Romain Saiss are sidelined for the hosts.

Predicted line-ups

Senegal (4-3-3): Edouard Mendy, Krepin Diatta, Mamadou Sarr, Moussa Niakhate, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Pape Gueye, Idrissa Gueye, Lamine Camara, Sadio Mane, Iliman Ndiaye, Nicolas Jackson.
