According to Diario Do Peixe, the Sereias da Vila have been given a break and will resume training on 15 September. Their remaining assignment is the Paulista F 'play in' in November against São Paulo.

The knockout is forecast for 18 and 22, with the FPF still to finalise the fixtures. The gap leaves the squad without matches for an extended spell.

Santos have been eliminated from the Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil, leaving only the State tournament. Once back on the grass, they will have the latter half of September, all of October and the first fortnight of November to train, more than 60 days at CT Rei Pelé.

In this year’s Paulista campaign, the Sereias finished fifth with nine points. Their record was two wins, three draws and two defeats, with six goals scored and six conceded.

The State format has changed this year, with only the top two, Palmeiras and Ferroviária, qualifying directly for the semi-finals. Teams placed third to sixth move into the 'play in', a knockout to complete the last four.

Beyond the SanSão, Corinthians face Bragantino. Taubaté and Mirassol have been placed in the Copa Paulista.
