Sergi Roberto, 34, has joined MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy on a two-year contract running to June 2028, with an option for 2028-29. The Spaniard arrives as a free agent after two seasons at Como.

The Galaxy announced the signing on Saturday. Comfortable in central midfield and at right-back, he adds experience and versatility.

A La Masia graduate, the former Spain international won 12 caps and made 373 appearances for Barcelona from 2010 to 2024. He captained the club in 2023-24 and is remembered for Barcelona’s remontada.

He then joined Como under former team-mate Cesc Fabregas, taking on a mentoring role but struggling to establish himself amid recurring injuries. He featured in 37 games across two seasons.

In Los Angeles he will reunite with fellow La Masia product Riqui Puig and share a dressing room with Marco Reus.
