After three matchdays, Borussia Dortmund have a slender lead over FC Bayern in the Bundesliga standings. For Serhou Guirassy, it’s now up to them to keep that distance at the end of the season.

"Of course, it’s very rare. If you look at last year, I don’t think we were ahead of Bayern even once, so it’s something we have to take advantage of,” Guirassy said in an exclusive interview with Bundesliga regarding the first three weeks of the league season.

The 30-year-old striker believes the goalless draw at Schalke will not be the only time the defending champions drop points this season. “They’re a very big team, but they can drop points like they did against Schalke. So it’s up to us to take advantage of that."

For that to happen, Niko Kovac’s men should maintain their strong start of the campaign. “We’re in very good form right now. We’re winning games. Personally, it’s very important for me to start my third Dortmund season like this.”

Guirassy scored five goals since the start of the season, including his brace in his 100th appearance for the club when Dortmund opened their Champions League campaign with a dramatic win over Villarreal. The Black and Yellows will travel to Bayern at the end of next month in matchday 8 action.
