Série A 12-match limit, who can no longer switch clubs

The Brasileirão’s updated rules for 2026 have doubled the cap from six to 12 games for players to switch clubs within Série A, so the end of round 13 has already tied down a raft of names.

According to Globo.com, the CBF changed the threshold because of an atypical 2026 calendar, with the league starting in January and running to 38 rounds. The previous limit quickly curtailed movement and left some players sidelined for months.

Athletico and Palmeiras lead the way, each with four players already locked after featuring in every round so far. Athletico: Kevin Viveros, Juan Portilla, Santos and Steve Mendoza. Palmeiras: Allan, Andreas Pereira, Carlos Miguel and Flaco López.

Elsewhere, Atlético-MG list Everson, Tomás Cuello and Victor Hugo. Coritiba have Lucas Ronier, Pedro Rocha and Vini Paulista, Grêmio include Carlos Vinícius, Cristian Pavón and Weverton, Internacional count Bruno Gomes, Rafael Borré and Johan Carbonero, and Remo have Alef Manga, Marcelo Rangel and Marllon.

Cruzeiro have Christian and Matheus Henrique, Fluminense list Fábio and Kevin Serna, and Vasco count Léo Jardim and Robert Renan. Corinthians have Rodrigo Garro and São Paulo list Rafael.

The higher cap brings a new trade-off, clubs gain more time to assess squads but risk locking in valuable assets. With the next window opening on 20 July, every selection now carries sporting and financial weight.
