“Manolo Portanova is absolutely innocent. But we have decided to speed up the trial process to avoid the my client new suffering.”

Portanova, along with three others (including a teenager), was accused of raping a 21-year-old Roman student at a house party in Siena in June 2021. A report was lodged against the player, his uncle Alessio Langella, his friend Alessandro Cappiello and another 17-year-old boy.

previously reported that the accused were advised to appear before the court on June 7, 2022. In the latest hearing, the story developed a bit, with Bordoni growing adamant about defending his client.

His party believes that the girl had given her consent and that nothing had happened without her permission, in which case Portanova and his kins could be judged innocent. If found guilty, however, the accused could face a sentence of 8 to 14 years in prison.
