According to a revelation from La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is now within reach for Barcelona, a scenario that seemed highly unlikely just months ago.

At the heart of this development is a significant shift in Inter Milan’s position.

It is said that the Italian side are now open to selling the centre-back and have reduced their initial €80 million valuation to a more manageable €50 million plus add-ons, making the deal far more accessible for Barcelona.

This change has immediately accelerated talks.

Bastoni wants Barcelona

Furthermore, Bastoni’s own position has also played a crucial role in pushing negotiations forward.

According to the outlet, the defender has made it clear that his priority is to join Barcelona, showing no interest in engaging with other clubs despite attention from the Premier League.

His commitment to the move has given Barça a clear advantage in the race.

Earlier in the season, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco held talks with Bastoni’s agent, Tullio Tinti.

Since then, the player’s openness to the move has only strengthened, with the idea now evolving from a distant possibility into a realistic objective.

Barcelona, however, are not rushing.

Why is that?

The Blaugrana are carefully managing negotiations, exploring ways to reduce the fee further, and even considering the inclusion of a player in the deal to ease financial pressure.

From a financial standpoint, Bastoni fits seamlessly into Barcelona’s structure, as his current salary, around €5 million net per year, aligns with the club’s wage framework.

Even so, internally, there is a belief that this deal is closer than ever to completion.

What once looked like an impossible dream is now a tangible target.

Inter have opened the door, the player is pushing for the move, and Barcelona are positioning themselves to strike at the right moment.
