Title rivals Roma and Juventus played out a 1-1 draw in the headline fixture of match-day eight of the 2025/26 Serie A season.
Elsewhere, Inter racked up five goals without reply in their dominant outing against relegation-threatened Genoa.
Here’s how the action unfolded in the latest outing in Italy’s top flight.
Roma required just 12 minutes to open the scoring in their home game against reigning Serie A champions Juventus. Valentina Bergamaschi produced a sensational long-distance shot to send her team into the break with a narrow advantage.
The hosts held onto the lead until Tatiana Pinto equalised with 20 minutes left to play of normal time. The midfielder pounced on Rachele Baldi’s parry to slide the ball home, with the strike proving enough to extend Juventus’ unbeaten run to five matches. However, they remain four points adrift of leaders Roma in the Serie A table.
Tessa Wullaert netted a brace in Inter’s dominant display against Genoa. The Belgium international nodded in from close range to open the scoring in the ninth minute. Henrietta Csiszár and Maša Tomašević grabbed a goal apiece to extend Inter’s advantage to three before the break. Tomašević then turned provider for Marija Milinković to head home Inter’s fourth within seven minutes of the restart.
With 25 minutes remaining, Wullaert rounded off the scoring for her side, sliding a low shot past Camilla Forcinella to take her tally to seven goals in eight league games this term. As a result of the victory, seventh-placed Inter are just two points adrift of the top three, while Genoa are languishing in 11th spot.
Como moved into second spot with a narrow win over Parma. Mathilde Kruse scored the decisive goal in the 85th minute. The 29-year-old picked up the ball from distance, drove onto her left foot and fired a powerful strike over Camelia Ceasar in the Parma goal.
Kruse’s first Serie A goal sealed Como’s fourth victory in five matches, while Parma are now winless in six games.
Milan claimed their second away league win of the season in Saturday’s meeting with Napoli. Christy Grimshaw broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, slotting the ball past Beatrice Beretta to net her first Serie A goal of the campaign. Eighteen-year-old Karen Appiah made sure of the three points within two minutes of her introduction in stoppage time. Appiah produced a composed side-foot finish to open her Serie A account and clinch Milan’s first win in nearly a month.
Iris Omarsdottir’s third-minute effort proved enough to seal all three points in Fiorentina’s home meeting with Ternana. The forward made an angled run to latch onto Sofie Bredgaard’s perfectly-weighted through ball, before she calmly slotted home a right-foot shot. Ternana were given the chance to equalise when Emma Lombardi fouled Valeria Pirone in the box. However, Pirone failed to capitalise on the opportunity, as she blazed her spot-kick harmlessly over the bar.
Piemonte inspired Lazio to a narrow win over Sassuolo on matchday eight. The forward opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, swiping home a rebound after she saw her own initial effort saved. Solene Durand’s failure to deal with a cross then allowed Piemonte to add a second before the half-time interval. Maya Doms pulled a goal back in the 71st minute, chopping onto her left foot before rifling a long-distance effort past Francesca Durante. However, Sassuolo were unable to push on for an equaliser, as they fell to a narrow defeat.
Sassuolo scored just their second goal in five home games in Monday’s home meeting with Lazio. In contrast, Sassuolo have netted five goals across their three away league outings.
Doms and Kruse were in the running for the best goal of the match-day, but we have given the nod to Roma’s Bergamaschi for her unstoppable effort against Juventus. The defender unleashed a fierce drive from distance that flew past the despairing Danielle de Jong before nestling in the net.
Napoli 0-2 AC Milan
Roma 1-1 Juventus
Inter 5-0 Genoa
Fiorentina 1-0 Ternana
Parma 0-1 Como
Sassuolo 1-2 Lazio
