Serie A clubs ranked second behind the Premier League for transfer spending during the January 2026 window, according to FIFA’s latest international transfer report.

As per TuttoMercatoWeb, the winter market saw a record number of transfers in men’s professional football, with more than 5,900 deals completed worldwide, an increase of 35 compared to last year.

Total global spending reached $1.9 billion, slightly down on the figure recorded in January 2025.

English clubs were once again the biggest spenders, laying out over $360 million, while Serie A sides followed in second place with $283 million invested. Brazil ranked third with $180 million, ahead of Germany ($126m) and France ($120m).

French clubs, however, led the way in income from outgoing transfers, receiving $218 million. Italian clubs were second in that category as well, bringing in $175 million, followed by Brazil ($155m), England ($150m) and Spain ($139m).

Brazil recorded the highest number of incoming transfers overall with 456, followed by Spain, Argentina, England and Portugal.

Argentina topped the list for outgoing transfers, with England, Brazil, Spain and the United States completing the top five.

In Italy specifically, there were 128 incoming transfers and 149 outgoing moves during the January window.
