Serie A side keen to swipe Real Madrid forward this summer

Real Madrid have much of their focus on signings this summer, as promised by President Florentino Perez. It is also expected that Jose Mourinho will request a number of improvements in defence, but there are several players with uncertain futures already in the squad.

One of them is Gonzalo Garcia Torres. The 22-year-old forward burst onto the scene last summer under Xabi Alonso at the Club World Cup, scoring four times and finishing as top scorer at the tournament. The Castilla forward earned his shot in the first team this season, but once Kylian Mbappe returned from injury, his opportunities were greatly reduced.

Como keen to sign Gonzalo Garcia

Several sides have been linked with a move for Garcia since, including Juventus and Borussia Dortmund. In the past week the side most strongly linked with Garcia is Cesc Fabregas’ Como though, with GdS (via MD) keen on him. Diario AS back up this idea, although both they and The Athletic note that there has been nothing beyond the interest to emerge just yet. It is thought that a deal could be done under similar conditions to that for Nico Paz, with Garcia moving for a lower fee, but Real Madrid retaining a sell-on fee percentage and a buyback option.

Having impressed as a number nine, Garcia showed flashes of his ability when Mbappe was absent, most notably scoring a hat-trick in January against Real Betis. Yet off the bench, Garcia struggled to make the required impact. In total, he managed eight goals and three assists in 39 appearances.

Just 13 of those appearances were starts though, and overall, he averaged a goal contribution every 134 minutes, a reasonable average. The fact he was included in the Spain support squad by Luis de la Fuente is a sign that he has not gone unnoticed.
