The signs are growing: Leon Goretzka’s time at FC Bayern is running out and the FCB bosses are apparently already looking around for new midfielders
According to information from the BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“, there are currently no contract talks with Goretzka – and an extension of his contract, which expires in the summer, is considered very unlikely internally at FC Bayern
The record champions have apparently long been working on the future of their midfield
The podcast mentions three specific candidates that Bayern’s scouting department is following particularly closely. The trio consists of Zé Lucas (17) from Brazilian club SC Recife, Nathan De Cat (17) from RSC Anderlecht in Belgium and Kennet Eichhorn (16) from Hertha BSC. All three are regarded as highly talented central midfielders who could potentially grow into the role that Goretzka has filled over the years
Other clubs are already in the running for Goretzka. Juventus were rumoured to be interested early on and, according to Tuttomercatoweb, SSC Napoli are now also looking into signing him. In view of the injuries to Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Anguissa, the Italian champions are urgently looking for reinforcements in the center. However, a winter deal is currently considered unlikely
Goretzka could move on a free transfer in the summer, which makes the German international attractive to numerous top clubs. For Bayern, however, this constellation means one thing above all: Goretzka’s time with the club is coming to an end and the focus is clearly on the future.
The club does not want to cover up the upheaval in midfield with expensive transfers, but rather shape it for the long term. The trio of Zé Lucas, De Cat and Eichhorn are currently at the center of these considerations.
