Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that both Sevilla and Villarreal are interested in signing Cameron Puertas from Union St Gilloise. The Swiss/Spanish dual national has been one of the best players in the Belgian Pro League this season and is said to be open to a move to La Liga. Union are likely to ask for between €15-20m for one of their top players who is still under contract until 2026. This season Puertas helped Union win their first Belgian cup in over 100 years.
Having had to settle for appearances off the bench in his first year, Puertas has taken full advantage of the departure of Teddy Teuma this year. The 25=year-old leads the league in assists with 19 in 39 games and has also grabbed 11 goals. In 55 games in all competitions he has 14 goals and 23 assists for the campaign. Union are, once again, set to make a huge profit on a player that barely cost them anything compared to what clubs will now have to pay. In the summer of 2022 they signed Puertas for just over €1m from Swiss side Lausanne-Sport.
