Sevilla ‘join’ race for Boca Juniors winger Exequiel Zeballos | OneFootball

Sevilla are exploring Argentine winger Exequiel Zeballos as a late-summer option to cover multiple roles. According to Nicolò Schira, they have joined the race for the Boca Juniors player.

The push for a wide player has intensified amid the presumed departures of Rubén Vargas and Oso. Zeballos can operate on either flank and fill in through the middle if required, offering Louis García Plaza greater flexibility.

Sporting chief Navarro has a firm order of business, a centre forward first, then a winger, ideally left sided, and finally a midfielder. Zeballos aligns with the second need, and there is no indication that talks are advanced.

The Argentine has also been linked with RC Celta de Vigo after discussions with SSC Napoli stalled. Sevilla have now entered the frame, and it remains to be seen whether initial interest becomes formal negotiation.

Aged 24, Oscar Exequiel Zeballos, known as El Changuito, has spent his entire career at Boca. He joined their academy in 2014, signed his first professional deal in 2018 as the youngest to do so in the club’s history, and debuted on 29 November 2020.

Up to May 2026 he has played about 140 official games, with 16 goals and 16 assists. His honours include the Copa de la Liga in 2020 and 2022, the 2022 league title and the 2022 Supercopa Argentina. He has represented Argentina at youth level, winning the Under-15 South American title and playing at the 2019 Under-17 events.

A right-footed winger who prefers to start on the left, he is noted for acceleration, dribbling and one-v-one ability, plus a threat in tight spaces and transitions. His Boca contract runs until 31 December 2026, and limited recent prominence, combined with European interest, could open a window for a move.
