Sevilla will run twin security operations at La Cartuja and the Real fairground on Saturday, as Real Sociedad face Atlético de Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
"We know some will try to erode the festive atmosphere, and the state security forces are more than ready to stop it," said Government subdelegate Francisco Toscano to SER Deportivos Gipuzkoa.
Mayor José Luis Sanz said the Local Police would mount a major effort around La Cartuja, with a separate plan for the fairground. Two fixed fire crews will be stationed at the Real around the clock, and 33 AI-enabled CCTV cameras will operate across the site.
The Government Subdelegation will confirm the match deployment on Thursday and indicated it should mirror recent finals, with 1,400 officers in 2025 and 1,511 in 2024. The 1998 killing of Real Sociedad fan Aitor Zabaleta by an ultra linked to Atlético’s radical fringe remains a sombre backdrop.
Local police unions have raised staffing alarms. The SPLS said the 092 control room was recently left without operators, putting citizens and officers at risk.
Sppme-A president Luis Val warned the final will draw many officers while pre-Feria also needs cover, saying shifts already run at minimum strength and radio links were inadequate.
Sanz said more than 1,000 Local Police will be on duty in Feria week, almost the entire force, with the newly formed GAR unit given a visible role at the fairground.
