Sevilla have turned down the chance to sign Kevin Lomónaco after the defender was offered to the club, with recruitment shaped by strict economics and a crowded back line.
ESTADIO Deportivo reports that the Argentine’s camp formally proposed him to Nervión, but the response was an immediate no, driven mainly by sporting reasons, with finances also relevant. Independiente value him at around eight million euros after slightly trimming initial demands.
The 24-year-old plays for Independiente de Avellaneda and is pushing for a move to Europe. He has been close to joining Real Betis on several occasions.
Sevilla already have seven centre-backs, the most recent arrival Arouna Sangante on a free, so the position is saturated.
No new defenders are planned until exits happen, with efforts focused on moving Fede Gattoni and Fábio Cardoso, who have little market. The club also seek a solution to Tanguy Nianzou’s high salary, while Marcao remains on the exit list but is reluctant to leave.
Only Kike Salas, Andrés Castrín and the newly signed Sangante are assured of staying, barring irresistible offers. Until the outgoing operation advances, external options, including Lomónaco, are off the table.
