Sheffield United continued their electric form by dismantling Stoke City 4-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Blades opened the scoring on ten minutes via a towering header from Mark McGuinness from a corner. Femi Seriki doubled the advantage with an excellent strike from the edge of the box into the top corner, marking his first ever goal for the club. Just a few minutes later, Seriki turned provider when he raced to the byline and slung a cross in which was met expertly by the head of Patrick Bamford. United added a fourth from the penalty spot late in the second half as Sydie Peck bagged his third goal in as many games.

The Blades took a deserved early lead when Mark McGuinness powered home an unchallenged header from Gus Hamer’s whipped corner. With United firmly in control, McGuinness nearly repeated the feat before the half-hour mark, again finding space from a set piece as the home side continued to dominate.
Another corner was partially cleared to Femi Seriki on the edge of the box, and the young right-back took full advantage, settling the ball with a touch before bending a superb strike beyond Viktor Johansson for his first senior goal for the club.
Seriki wasn’t done there. Minutes later, he turned provider for United’s third. Reacting quickly to Sydie Peck’s delicate ball over the top, Seriki burst down the right and delivered a pinpoint cross into the path of Patrick Bamford, who guided his header home for his second goal in four matches.
United continued their intensity after the break. Tyler Bindon, on for McGuinness at centre-back, was immediately involved in duels as Hamer forced Johansson into an early save.
Just after the hour mark, a lightning counter-attack saw Hamer release Bamford. The striker unselfishly squared the ball across goal, though Andre Brooks couldn’t quite steer it in. The visitors responded with a rare moment of threat when Tchamadeu drove down the right and found Mubama, but Michael Cooper stood tall to block before Bindon bravely thwarted Manhoef on the rebound.
On 77 minutes, the in-form Sydie Peck stepped up to convert from the penalty spot, his third goal in as many matches. The penalty was earned after some brilliant individual play by Brooks, who dazzled the visitors’ defence and combined with Tyrese Campbell.
The final whistle confirmed another hugely encouraging victory for Chris Wilder’s side. United now sit five points above the relegation zone and just eight points off the top six as momentum continues to grow.
Sheffield United will welcome struggling Norwich City to Bramall Lane on Tuesday night, looking to build further on this outstanding run of form.
