The Blades are set to tie down Adam Davies to a new contract this summer
Sheffield United have had one eye on the summer for several weeks now, after a late play-off surge became mathematically impossible.
The Blades have won just two of their last 10 games, and are set to register their lowest league finish since they were promoted to the Championship from League One back in 2017.
Contract decisions have already been made regarding midfield duo Tom Davies and Jairo Riedewald, with the latter expected to extend his stay past the end of the season, and the former set to part ways with the club.
With Premier League parachute payment money drying up this summer at Bramall Lane, plenty more contract talks will be taking place over the coming month, not only with those whose contracts expire this summer, but also with those who have a year left, as Sheffield United work to avoid losing certain stars at cut prices.

One player whose contract expires at the end of the season is backup goalkeeper Adam Davies, and according to the Sheffield Star, the Welshman is set to extend his stay at Bramall Lane this coming summer.
The 33-year-old has been at Sheffield United since January 2022, when he made the switch from Stoke City. He's been a serviceable backup to Wes Fodderingham and now, Michael Cooper.
This season, Davies has played more times than he has in any of his prior three years, owing to Michael Cooper's knee injury. He's started in the last 11 Championship games and has picked up two clean sheets.
Chris Wilder's defence hasn't been strong this season, with just QPR, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday conceding more goals than the Blades. Therefore, there'll be a clear focus on improving that backline in preparation for the new campaign.
But it seems that Sheffield United aren't prepared to be caught short when it comes to the goalkeeper position, and are keen to keep the six-time Welsh international on their books as a decent backup option.

Davies is likely to resume his post as deputy next season, as his contract status won't spell the end of Cooper's time at the club.
The Star reports that the former Plymouth Argyle shot-stopper should be returning from his setback in time for pre-season this coming summer, and that the initial two-year deal he signed in 2024 has an option to extend, which will be taken up by Sheffield United.
Indeed, Davies' contract extension is to ensure that, if Cooper goes down with injury once more next season, Chris Wilder has someone ready to step in whom he trusts to keep the levels up.
Sheffield United will be keeping an eye on the goalkeeper market this coming summer, too, regardless of who gets extended, as movement in and out could result in 21-year-old third-choice keeper Luke Faxon being sent out on loan.
Either way, Davies will remain in goal for this weekend's final day trip to play-off hopefuls Derby County, where the Blades will look to play the role of spoiler to a Rams side who need results elsewhere to go their way if they are to squeeze into the top six right at the death.
