Sheffield United's January transfer business has began, with the Blades submitting bids for players from the Premier League.
Sheffield United have submitted loan bids for two Premier League players, as the January transfer window begins to heat up ahead of this weekend's FA Cup third round fixtures.
The Blades have had a stuttering first-half of the campaign, and after six straight losses in the Championship at the very start of the season left them in the relegation zone, Chris Wilder has helped the club rise towards mid-table in recent weeks.
Sheffield United were excellent against Leicester City in their most recent fixture, with a 3-1 victory over the Foxes on New Year's Day helping them climb further away from the bottom three. However, a cold snap over the weekend saw their clash against Oxford United at Bramall Lane postponed.
Nevertheless, Wilder is now looking to add to his squad, with The Star reporting that the first couple of bids for new faces have already gone in.
While the report has not explicitly named which players the Blades have targeted, it is clear to see that United are keen on bringing in new faces who have experience of playing in the top flight after narrowly missing out on promotion last season through the play-offs. They state they are looking at loans and have launched two bids in that market to seal temporary deals with Premier League clubs.

The Star have also stated that Wilder is looking to bring in three or four signings in January, as loan deals from the Premier League are prioritised following Ben Godfrey's return to Atalanta and Louie Barry's recall by Aston Villa.
Sheffield United remain light in the middle of the park, and this will be a focus of the recruitment team in the coming weeks with both Sydie Peck and Tom Davies returning to full fitness following spells on the sidelines.
The Blades also have just one out-and-out right-back at the club currently in the form of Femi Seriki, and therefore it would not be a surprise to see another right-sided full-back make their way to S2 before the February 2 deadline.
This time last season, Sheffield United were embroiled in a four-way fight for automatic promotion with Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland. The Blades ultimately missed out on the top two, and in part, that was due to a poor January transfer window.
Tom Cannon was the marquee signing at Bramall Lane 12 months ago, with a fee of around £10m being paid for the striker from Leicester after he spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Stoke City.

The additions of Christian Nwachukwu and Jefferson Cacares were both eye-opening and ultimately poor acquisitions, with neither making an appearance for the club, before Cacares departed for Scottish Championship side Dunfermline in the summer.
While the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz, Harry Clarke, Hamza Choudhury and Rob Holding made an impact on loan, it was clear that the Blades did not get it right with their permanent signings and this is something that must be worked on this month. Nevertheless, with Sheffield United struggling for consistency, moves need to be made quickly.
