The Blades will be delighted that they may receive a sizeable fee from Wrexham for Kieffer Moore.
Sheffield United will be hoping to bounce back from their play-off final anguish under new boss Ruben Selles.
The Blades recently parted ways with Chris Wilder for a second time after losing at Wembley to Sunderland for a place in the Premier League, with the former Reading and Hull City coach taking charge to hopefully bring about a promotion push.
Expectations will be high as the club looks to bounce back to the top-flight at the second attempt, with plenty of teams showing in the past that it is possible after an original setback.
After failing to get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, some players are set to move on from the Blades squad and pursue moves elsewhere.
One of those could be forward Kieffer Moore, who has been linked with a move away back to Wales with Championship rivals Wrexham.
Wrexham are reportedly prepared to pay £4 million to secure the services of the forward, as per Alan Nixon, as well as increasing his £30,000 weekly wage that he earns at Bramall Lane to make him one of the Championship's top earners.
However, given Moore’s age and his struggles last season, the Yorkshire outfit could be gleefully receiving such an influx of cash, which could go a long way given their inability to spend heavily during the summer transfer window.
Kieffer Moore endured a less-than-impressive 2024-25 campaign for Sheffield United, with his performances being questioned as to why Wrexham are prepared to pay so much for the 32-year-old.
The Welshman started off leading the line for Chris Wilder at the start of the season, starting 12 out of their opening 14 league games, but he would net just twice against QPR and Stoke City before picking up a calf injury.
After missing five games with that issue, Moore returned to play six times, scoring three goals in that period, before picking up a groin issue that would rule him out for a further eight matches.
That scoring spree would be his final one of the regular term, with his final goal coming in matchday 22.
On his return, Moore was restricted to cameos off the substitutes' bench, failing to make much of an impact. He did start and complete 90 minutes against Burnley and Stoke as the Blades prepared the squad for the play-offs, but he failed to find the back of the net.
Moore would go on to start every game in their play-off campaign, netting in the second leg of the semi-final as Sheffield United eased past Bristol City.
But the frontman would finish the season on a dismal note, with a lapse of concentration leading to a sloppy pass that Tommy Watson latched on to and scored emphatically to send Sunderland to the Premier League.
Last season saw Moore only net six times despite being given many first-team opportunities, potentially signaling that his career is heading in a downward spiral.
When looking at the potential of a Kieffer Moore exit to Wrexham, Sheffield United would definitely be getting the better end of that deal.
At the age of 32, Moore has shown signs that he’s slowing down, and after a poor return in front of goal last season paired with multiple injury issues, he doesn’t seem to be the man that can reliably score enough goals to put the Blades into promotion contention once again.
After originally signing him from Bournemouth for a fee of £1.5 million, it would be such a healthy profit to make, which could be crucial to giving them some leeway in the summer transfer window, after Football League World exclusively revealed that the Blades have to prioritise free transfers and loans up to the 1st September deadline.
If this deal could facilitate bringing in a younger and hungrier forward that is eager to prove themselves, then it seems like an offer that Sheffield United shouldn’t turn down.
At this stage of his career, Moore isn’t viewed as a player for the long-term at Bramall Lane, and the club should be eager to get this deal over the line to help put them in a better financial position.
