The South Yorkshire club have made the move for the youngster with their goalkeeping department having been severely impacted by injuries. Number one keeper Sian Rogers is still recovering from injury while Charlotte Parker-Smith is also sidelined with a knock.

Keane joined Leicester City last month following a short spell with SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Shamrock Rovers. She penned a three-year deal with The Foxes and is very much seen as one for the future.

On the international stage, Keane is yet to break into The Republic of Ireland’s senior side, however, she has played an important role in the Under-19 team. She recently represented her country at the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship.

It has been reported that Keane is available to feature for Sheffield United in their Subway Women’s League Cup group stage match against Durham at Maiden Castle this evening. The two clubs begin their involvement in this season’s competition up in the North East.
