Chelsea might be the most ill-disciplined team in the Premier League after they were fined yet again by the Football Association.
The Blues received six bookings and one red card during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford last Saturday.
It was a madcap encounter in which both sides were reduced to ten men, with Robert Sanchez receiving his marching order just five minutes into the game. Casemiro was then sent for an early shower on the stroke of halftime after being shown a second booking.
The Brazilian was the only United player to be carded in the chaotic tie, while Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Enzo Fernandez, Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George all went in the book.
That has led to a £25,000 fine for Chelsea as the FA hand out a financial punishment to teams that receive six cards in a single match.
The west London outfit are very familiar with the sanction as they were fined three times in the opening three months of last season. They were initially £25,000 for receiving eight yellow cards against Bournemouth in September 2024. That increased to £50,000 for six yellows against Nottingham Forest in October, and then £75,000 for another six against Newcastle United at the end of the same month.
Their discipline issues have evidently followed Enzo Maresca’s side into this season, with only four clubs receiving more yellow cards in the opening five weeks of the 2025/26 campaign, although none of those teams have had a man sent off.
