FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit has given his verdict on whether the Blades should reignite their interest in Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple.

It is fair to say it has been a turbulent few months for Sheffield United on and off the pitch.

Amid the club's well-documented financial restrictions, it was a frustrating summer transfer window for Sheffield United, and after losing a number of key players, it has been a disappointing start to the season for Chris Wilder's side.

Sheffield United sold a number of their star men during the summer, with Andre Brooks joining Norwich City in a deal that could eventually be worth as much as £10 million, Gus Hamer returning to Coventry City for a fee of £6 million and Callum O'Hare making a £7 million move to Wrexham.

However, despite bringing in significant fees, the Blades did not reinvest that money in their squad to replace the trio, and the majority of their signings were either free transfers or loans, with Matt Doherty, Liam Kitching, Hamza Choudhury, Kalvin Phillips, Romelle Donovan, Ben Brereton Diaz and Jordan Ayew arriving in South Yorkshire.

Events on the pitch have done little to improve the mood among the Bramall Lane faithful, and after winning just two of their first eight games of the season, United sit 18th in the Championship table heading into the international break, just four points clear of the relegation zone.

With the squad still light in certain areas, Wilder may already be looking ahead to the January transfer window, and some Blades supporters have suggested that the club should reignite their interest in Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple, having been linked with him in the summer.

Pepple joined the Pilgrims from Luton Town last summer, and after scoring 18 goals in 41 games during his debut season at Home Park, he has already netted four times in nine appearances this season for Tom Cleverley's side, who are currently third in the League One table.

When asked if Pepple should be on the club's list of January targets, FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy, from the YouTube channel Blades Ramble, claimed that the 23-year-old would be the perfect addition, but he questioned whether a deal would be affordable.

"Bim Pepple is a name that keeps coming up in Sheffield United circles," Jimmy told FLW.

"He's someone who is obviously getting a lot of attention for the goals he's scoring for Plymouth.

"In all honesty, he's absolutely ideal for what we need.

"I think we're quite toothless at the top of the pitch at the moment, a lot of that is down to a lack of creativity after selling our three most creative players in Andre Brooks, Gus Hamer and Callum O'Hare during the transfer window.

"It's not necessarily the strikers themselves that are the issue, but Bim Pepple has been creating goals out of nothing, and he would give us something different.

"He would give us something that Patrick Bamford, Tyrese Campbell and Tom Cannon don't currently offer, which is a bit of pace, power and unpredictability.

"I think he would be a really good signing.

"It would depend on the price because we've not spent any money so far this season, and January deals are notoriously a little bit more expensive and difficult to do.

"I would like him as an addition, but it would all depend on the circumstances."

Pepple has been one of the most prolific strikers in League One over the past year, so he would certainly be an exciting signing for Sheffield United if they were able to strike a deal in January.

However, the Blades brought in over £20 million from player sales this summer, and they were still unable to spend in the transfer market, so Pepple will likely be out of their price range, particularly as Plymouth will demand a hefty fee for the striker if they are to sanction his departure in the middle of a promotion push.
